Alexander L'Estrange and Joanna Forbes must be one of the most versatile husband-and-wife musician teams ever! They sing, play, record, run bands, write, conduct, lead workshops, teach, MD shows and produce recordings; since graduating in Music from Oxford University in the early 1990s, they have each carved successful careers working in a huge variety of musical fields.
"If you had to create from scratch the perfect 21st century musician Alexander L'Estrange would be your template."
Howard Goodall, composer
Alexander is one of Britain's foremost young jazz musicians. A distinguished composer/arranger, as well as playing double bass, piano and singing counter-tenor, he is consultant editor of Choral Basics a new series of arrangements for choirs, published by Faber Music. His most recent original composition, Lute-Book Lullaby, has already received acclaim and performances world-wide.
Joanna is known for her extraordinary vocal versatility, dividing her time between Classical solo concerts, jazz gigs and commercial studio sessions. For seven years she sang soprano and was Musical Director of international a cappella group The Swingle Singers, with whom she performed in thirty-five different countries, treading the boards of the world's most famous stages from La Scala, Milan, to Ronnie Scott's, London.
"These are people with outstanding talent. There is no doubt that they will have a brilliant future."
Ward Swingle, founder of the swingle singers
